Find your keys all the time!

In case some of you tend to loose your keys, or your spouse accidentally takes your set, here is a tip to help you find your keys. Buy the key hangers at your local Hardware store or Walmart and hang them on your cabinet or a familiar place. Also make two extra sets and you will always be able to find them. Sky and I had two episodes of not having our keys when we needed them and so now the problem is solved. Thanks Sky!

CVS deals!

Last night I went to CVS to take advantage of the deals. I had $12 in ECB's that I needed to spend and I also knew there was some deals that I wanted to take advantage of. The Energy drinks were $4.99 receive $4.99 ECB, The pert plus was BOGO $3.99 and I had 2 $2 coupons from Sundays Newspaper making them free. The dawn dishsoap was $.88 and I used 2 $.50 coupons from Sundays newspaper. The toothpaste was $2.99 and I used this coupon http://offers.e-centives.com/siflo/reg/survey.cfm?s=Yz0xJmY9MSZjdT0xJmJxPTEmdmlkPTUyOCZvPTE4MTU0MTYmcD00NjEmcHQ9NiZjbz0zMjcmZndlYj0xJnNjPTMyNyZjaWQ9MTAwNDcxMjg5NCZyVVJMPSUyRnNpZmxvJTJGcG9zdHJlZ2lzdGVyJTJFY2ZtJTNGdmlkJTNENTI4JTI2dCUzRDYlMjZzJTNEMzgxNjc4MjklMjZtYiUzRDUzMjQlMjZmd2ViJTNEMSUyNmNvJTNEMzI3JTI2c2MlM0QzMjclMjZpZCUzRDhmYTdlOTMwJTJEOTgyOCUyRDQ0NzglMkQ5OTM4JTJEN2MyZDJhYTMzYTM0JnM9MzgxNjc4MjkmbWI9NTMyNCZpZD04ZmE3ZTkzMC05ODI4LTQ0NzgtOTkzOC03YzJkMmFhMzNhMzQ%3D saving me $1.50, plus I received $2 ECB's. The candy deal was mainly done because my brother is getting married soon, and the gummy lifesavers are for my little daughter during the ceremony. Of course she is not getting it all but upon my mother-n-laws suggestion those might help with her listening. :) I had two BOGO free coupons from the paper for those and then I also added the chocolate to bring up the total. My total was $27 and after coupons it was $13. I handed her my $12 ECB's and then the total was $.16 on a gift card.
I told my husband I better post because some of you guys might want to try some of these deals.
Here is also a link that you might want to use to help you save $2 off $10- http://www.moneysavingmom.com/money_saving_mom/2008/08/g-r-e-a-t-news.html

The End of the Blog

Hi to my friends and Family!
Thanks so much for your nice comments to me (mainly in person :) as I have posted these deals. I am going to stop this blog for now. I still love saving money and sharing but it seems lately blogging is the last thing on my mind. I also started this blog to help some of my friends and family to understand the CVS game and Publix deals, and just the joy of couponing. There are also lots of websites that I have mentioned that help save money already. Moneysavingmom.com is the top one on my mind. She does a great job!

It has been neat to see how many of you have caught on and have been able to benefit your family as well as to give to others.
Thanks again!
I will still try to share in person if the deal is too good to be true. :)

CVS deal

I thought I would post.
I have been out of town and this deal is worth doing so I thought I would share.
Softwoap body wash (spa radiant) is pay $4.99 get $4.99 back. You can do this deal 5 x's and that means if you have any coupons it makes this deal even sweeter. I was able to buy diapers and 3 softsoaps for $.11 out of my pocket after ECB's and coupons.

Also just to give you all a update. We have lost our digital camera so for the time being we will not be posting pictures. I know it is bummer but I am praying our camera turns up. If not.....we just won't think about that right now. :)

Sloppy Joes

Tonight I thought I would try out making Sloppy joes from scratch. Not that I make sloppy joes alot, it probably has been a year since I had one. I used a Betty Crocker cookbook and it turned out pretty good. I also mad homemade bread to go along with it. Corn, sweet potatoes and salad also were fixed.
The recipe for the sloppy joes is-
1 pd lean ground beef and cook with 1/2 onion diced, and 1/4 cup diced celery.
Drain and add 1 cup ketchup,1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp ground mustard, 1/8tsp pepper.
Bring to a boil, and then simmer4 uncovered for 10 - 15 min.
Stir occasionally, until veg. are tender.
Enjoy!

Frugal family fun

Our family is fortunate enough to live within ten minutes of the beach. Tonight we loaded up the van and took off for a adventure. It was such a fun time and we loved collecting butterfly shells.

The Lord has truly blessed us with this beauty. Remember you do not have to always spend money to make memories. Have a wonderful night!

CVS Deals

I am sorry for posting this later than today. There were some deals that were only good for yesterday and today. The pot of Gold 2x's, jelly beans 2x's and the easter eggs. They were good deals but are no longer available.
I was able to retrieve a $5 off $30 coupon when I scanned my card at the opening of the store.
So that helped with my deals. There is a deal for specified dove products, when you buy $15 worth you will receive $5 ECB. I was able to buy three papers yesterday and use $3 off two of the dove shampoo and conditioner. It was BOGO free so after the coupons and ECB's I paid a little over $1 for 6 bottles
The Soleil razor and or cartridges are $5.99 and get $3 ECB's back. I had coupons for $2 off and pd $1 each razor. You can do this deal 4x's!
The ladies speed stick 24/7 was $.25 after a $.75 coupon Sunday paper. You can do this deal 5x's. I bought a Maybelline Superstay Lipcolor for $8.99 and got $8.99 ECB's . I also had a $2 off coupon which gave me $2 to work with.
I also took advantage of the listerine smart rinse for kids which is not pictured. I printed off a $1 off coupon which is linked at moneysavingmom.com.
The Egg coloring kit, foil, snickers marathon bars ($.37 each) and the bunny were all extras.
I spent my $44 ECB's and received $39 back.
I was actually happy with this deal.
Happy CVS shopping!

Publix DEals

These our the deals that I felt should be highlighted this week. The Birds Eye Steam fresh Veg. were again50% off. So for two bags they were $1.69 and I had a coupon from last weeks paper for $1.00 off 2. I got two bags for $.69.
Also the dry beans were on sale for $.89 each. I thought that was good considering the amount it makes, and for just one can of beans it is almost that price. Also the Brownies were BOGO $2.49. Not the greatest deal I have ever had but a good deal considering I have to bake these for Easter. The Granola bars were BOGO and I had a coupon $1/2. Total =$1.79/2
The best deal was the rice.
It was BOGO for $1.79 and I had two coupons from a recent Newspaper for $.75 each bag. Total =$.29/2

Enjoy the deals! they end on Wednesday. :)

Price check

Just a reminder that when you are in Publix watch the items as they are scanning. I had cabbage and it was $.25 a pd. it scanned for $.49 a pd. and by me speaking up about it, I got it free. I really don't understand it exactly but if Publix rings up something for the wrong price it is free! Woo Hoo! I don't mind. I have not really been shopping to much this week. I did do another run to CVS and got garnier products free after a $1 coupon and the ECB's they gave back. I also got free dove chocolate eggs because of the deal they had. 2/$6 and then I had a BOGO free coupon and also had a $1 off coupon for two bags.
I have really not shopped too much for food. So nothing really to post. Probably a post to come in the next couple of days. We do have to eat. :)
Enjoy your day!

CVS

Most of the deals I completed on Saturday night were monthly deals so I just thought I would share a picture. I do not have much time but check out the monthly deals. The Russel Stover chocolate I got for $.29 for two bags. I had a BOGO free coupon and then also there is a monthly deal for $3 ECB deal going on when you buy 2 bags. You can do this deal five times. Also the crest mouthwash was $3.49 get $3.49 ECB back. I also actually found a venus razor! I got this free after $6ECB and a $4 coupon that I had. I need laundry soap, so after going to a couple of CVS's I was able to work some deals. THe toothbrush's are also a monthly deal. After ECB's and spending $5 I was able to buy all that is pictured above. Enjoy!

Toilet Paper

Scott toilet paper is on sale again at Albertson for $1. We obtained some coupons from Publix for $.55 off. Not as good as free but pretty good for $.45.
Also, it is a sad day in our house I believe that Winn Dixie near us is not printing out the $10 off $50 coupons so that means we have to work extra hard to keep accomplishing the deals. Oh well, I thank the Lord that he has blessed us this long with each week saving $10 since October.
Have a wonderful day!

Enchilada recipe

For your enjoyment I thought I would post my enchilada recipe.
I have added this recipe to a keeper in our house, and I am sure you might too. :)

Ingrediants-
3tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt, divided
1/4 tsp paprika
1-1/2 cups milk
1 can enchilada sauce
1 cup (4 ounces) cheddar cheese
1 can sliced ripe olives, drained -we omit these for the hubby
3/4 pd. ground beef
1 md. onion, chopped - we use green onions
1 can pinto beans - we used homemade version
1 can chopped green chilies
1/8 tsp pepper
1 lg tomato
9 white or yellow corn tortillas

In 1-qt. microwave bowl, combine the flour, 1/2 tsp salt, paprika, milk and enchilada sauce until smooth. Microwave uncovered on high for 2 minutes: stir. Cook 4-5 min. longer or until thickened, stirring every min. Stir in cheese and olives; set aside.
Cook Beef and onion. stir in the bean dip, chilies, pepper and remaining salt. Spoon about 1/3 cup meat mixture and 1 tbsp of diced tomato down the center of each tortilla; roll tightly.
Place enchiladas seam side down in a ungreased microwave safe dish. top with sauce. Microwave for 5 min. Stir sauce on top of enchiladas and cook 5 more min. I hope you enjoy this dish!
It is from a quick cooking magazine a few years back and has been a keeper in our home for a while.

Walgreens Deals

Walgreens has other deals but these were the one's I took advantage of. The reach is on sale for $.99 after coupon in the Walgreens ad and I also had $.75 off coupons making them each $.25 each.
Also there is a deal where you buy 2 pks of these soaps-Olay/2pk, Zest3 pk. , Safeguard/4pk. , or Ivory/4pck for 2/$4 receive $4 Register Rewards for your next purchase. So I bought 2 pks. of Zest and used 2/$1 off coupon and paid $3.21 total and received $RR.
So I got paid to buy these. Woo Hoo!
I know there are other deals but I just thought I would post these.

Beans :)

Ok. I am going to make a confession. I have never attempted to try to fix beans from the dried bean bag. I always felt like they intimidated me. But today I conquered that fear thanks to the coaching of my Grandmother and suceeded! Woo Hoo! Lets just say that you just read the directions and it will make plenty more than what you could buy from a can. I needed refried beans for tonights dinner of enchiladas and decided to see if I could do this project. It is very easy and I added some onion, garlic, some salt, chili powder, and canola/olive oil.
I just thought I would share and hope that this might help some of you try it out!
Have a great day!

Deals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of the groceries above were purchased for a total of $45.09 after coupons. Deals were great! At Publix the mott's Juice box were BOGO for $2.99. So get the Pyramid coupons out again $1 off any Motts product and also there is a Mott's coupon that was in a Sunday's paper like a month ago for $1/2. I combined the 4 Pubix coupons and 2 motts man coupon and purchased 4 boxes of juices boxes for "0" out of my pocket. At our Publix they even have copied versions so that you can use as many as you want. Woo Hoo! Don't forget to use the coupons that the store put out. :)
The Oust sanitizers were BOGO $3.39. So after 2 /$1 off coupons I was able to purchase both for $1.39. Dole's fruit cups were on sale BOGO and at smartsource.com there is a $1 off coupon off Dole's fruit parfait. So I printed two and was able to buy both for $ .19. I purchased the cheerios for $2.50/2 after coupons. There was also a peelie on the box for $1 off produce. Which was a plus for me. So keep your eyes on the look out.
I also found several products that were free after coupons. Two sunsilk products and two Dove's products. Remember to always check the clearance area at your local grocery store you never know what kind of deals you might pick up. I also purchase several fruits and veggies and some meat. I am also purchasing some ham. meat from WD today and a 10 lb bag of potatos for $2.99. Other than that I am stocked on meat for the week. :)
Of course I did use my $10 off $50 Winn Dixie and my $5 off $50 Albertson coupon which helped alot.
Target had some deals I picked up some cheese for free and some cleaning scrubbies for $1 after two. Read more on that deal at Moneysavingmom.com.
Also there is a $2 off Jane coupon that she posted and you can stock up on makeup at Walgreens. I purchase 2 mascara's, and two lipsticks for $ .95 after coupons.
I hope all this helped you all, and you have a blessed day!

Publix deal

Bird's Eye Steam Fresh Vegetables are on sale for 50 %. I love these vegetables and I decided to stock up on twenty bags.
In the take a peak booklet that had the Motts coupon in it, it also has a $1/2 coupon in it. So for two bags at $1.69 I paid $.69 for 2. Woo Hoo! I was excited about this one and thought I would bless others.

Frugal Idea!

Just thought I would mention this idea!

When you are frugal you start using your head and thinking outside of the box. Ideas would be you make things from scratch. You do not make countless runs to the store. You have a list and you stick to it. In the event that you are missing something, you......improvise. You also carefully plan out your menus and try to include alot of variety.

Some good ideas would be to try making different recipes. You will find that you will broaden your culinary skills and your husband will love you. :)

Above is a picture of homemade bread from this week. If you have never made bread it is a delightful thing to do. My great Grandmother was a pro at making bread, and of course my Grandmother is too, so I guess I inherited their skills. Bread is just one of the things I have learned to make.

For Valentines Day I made homemade bread, homemade spaghetti, red jello - for the red theme, salad and a homemade cake. All of my children joined in the fun and we did not go into the poor house because we spent too much money. Not only did we save by not eating out, we had fun!

The cake we made is pictured above, enjoy-

Dinner for tonight

Well, I mentioned I would share ideas occasionally for what we have for dinner so here it goes.
Tonight I made homemade meatloaf (recipes of my mom's) , Baked potatoes and garlic green beans. Also for some of us we had cantaloupe :)
Believe it or not Skyler does not usually care for meatloaf but a couple of weeks ago I thought I would try making it like Mom's and convincing him to like it. :)
So we now have a recipe that we will add to our list of likes! I just thought I would share this, we do not eat cereal or beans and rice living frugally. We eat very well, and I encourage all of you who read this to broaden your creativity and give different recipes a try.

Publix deal

Publix has Motts Juice on sale for BOGO. So if you have any of those coupons from the last time $1 off any motts products that was in the "take a peak" -publix booklet, you could buy two bottles of juice for $.79.
At our Publix today they actually had them copied and accessable for you to take advantage of the deal. I think that is amazing. Let's just say I thought that was pretty neat! I did not go crazy and buy the store out, but I did buy 2. Who can beat a sale like that.
Also, if you plan to take advantage of this deal the sale ends tomorrow.

Now as far as deals go this week I have not gotten to many. I did some basic shopping, but did not shop for too many things. Our pantry and freezer is pretty good. I did go to CVS this morning and was able to buy $54 worth of products for $.36 out of my pocket. I had a $10 off of a $50 coupon and then I also used $23 in ECB's . I received $19 ECB's back. So I was a happy camper. I bought things like detergent, diapers, shaver, ect. Basically things we could use.

Very Nice!

I just want to relate a story that happened to me on Saturday night. I went into Albertson to take advantage of Scott's toilet paper that was 10/$10. I bought 4 packs and used $ .75 off coupons for each packages. I also bought 2 cartons of Egglands eggs which were on sale this wkd. for 2/$3. I had $ .35 off coupons for these. So after this Russian cashier older lady rung up my order. She commented how very nice it was that I had coupons and could save so much on these products. I could not agree more. I realize all the time how if you just wait for something it will go on sale and you can buy things you need. I did not go shopping this weekend and will probably do alittle this week. My pantry and freezer are full. A friend from church gave me some milled wheat so I am going to make some homemade bread for sure and am excited to try this out. CVS has some deals but I am not really sure how much I will take advantage of. I will try to post pictures and deals if I come across any. Have a prosperous day!

Picture People coupon

I just thought I would post this. This would be great if you are a family that can walk in and complete the pictures and only go home with the ones that are free. Our family might try this. :)

http://www.picturepeople.com/promotion/email/vday_2008/r5landing.html

Also there is a great deal at Walgreens for a family pack of pictures. Check out Moneysavingmom.com for more details.

Random Thoughts

First I must apologize to the people who read this blog for my lack of posting. Being a mother to three can be challenging and for some reason I do not find the time for posting. I may even find some deals but just alittle bit of typing is easily forgotten.

Thanks to all of you who come to my site I promise to try and do better this week.
Also, I just want to publicly thank my husband on this blog because without his help we would miss out on alot of great deals! He especially is the one that I like to send out to get the CVS deals!
I will be going to Publix this week and I will post if there is anything that is exceptional. Last week my total was $104 and after coupons I paid $45 and am also receiving a $10 Publix gift card for a rebate that I completed. Albertson has Scott tissue paper on sale again- $1. So We will be taking advantage of this and using our $.75 off coupons we stocked up on a month ago from the paper. Believe it or not the tissue stock pile we completed a couple of months ago is still aound. We are down to the last two packages. Isn't that awesome how God provides. I love it! It is so cool how when you use your head and shop the deals how it benefits your family in the long run. :) Of course the chocolate we have on hand isn't necessary but is nice :)

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and enjoy the blessings that God has given you!
Also I am thinking of posting at different times food that our family enjoys. Could I have some feed back on this, also I would love to hear ideas from you. Making from Scratch is something I enjoy but of course is not always possible. Also check below on the CVS post I added something at the end. Thanks!
